Youth Employability Initiative
Longford and Westmeath Education and Training Board (LWETB) is inviting applications from community, voluntary and not for profit organisations that can demonstrate a track record of working with the target group, to deliver a programme in 2019 for young people aged 16-24 (focus on 16-18) years who are not currently in employment, education or training.
LWETB can identify particular cohorts of this target group in the following 3 areas and it is a condition of funding that successful applicants engage with LWETB in the targeting of programme participants:
1. County Longford
2. Athlone area, Co Westmeath
3. Mullingar area, Co Westmeath
The specific aim of this Initiative is to help these young people to attain a level of confidence and agency to engage in available programmes or services, with a view to developing their personal and social competencies and ultimately preparing them for onward progression in their employment lives.
The Initiative is funded by the Department of Children and Youth Affairs through Dormant Accounts Funds. The maximum grant payable to any one project is €50,000.
