Freedom of Information

The Freedom of Information Act 2014 came into effect for Longford and Westmeath ETB on 14th April 2015.

The act gives anyone the right:

  • to request access to official records held by us;
  • to have personal information held on them corrected or updated where such information is incomplete, incorrect or misleading;
  • to be given reasons for decisions taken by us that affect them.

The Office of the Information Commissioner reviews decisions made by public bodies in relation to Freedom of Information requests in a fair and independent way. The Commissioner also promotes the operation of the act and, from time to time, publishes commentaries on the operation of the act.

Freedom of Information Publication Scheme

Under the Freedom of Information Act 2014, LWETB is obliged to publish a Publication Scheme, which is a comprehensive body of information about all of our services and activities. This is currently (March 2016) being compiled and will appear here before the 14th April 2016.
